5 Things You'll Hate About Cloth Diapers

Not to be facetious, but cloth diapers aren't all glamorous all the time.  There are a few things you might really hate about choosing cloth diapers for your family.

1) You'll want to collect them all
Now, don't say I didn't warn you, I've been telling families this for years, but no one believes me when I say you'll want to start collecting cloth diapers. Seriously, nothing is as satisfying as a collection of reusable diapers that are as cute as your baby. Call me crazy, but you won't know until you know.

2) You'll be sad when baby potty trains
Potty learning is a big step for any toddler and naturally it comes with mixed emotions.  But when you're paying a ton of money for boxes of diapers every month, potty learning can't come soon enough for many parents. While sometimes it's true that babies in cloth diapers potty train faster, it's still bittersweet when it's time to put adorable cloth diapers away.  The same way that putting away newborn clothing makes you nostalgic, the diaper prints you picked for your baby that you used through sleepless nights and baby snuggles will pull at your heart strings when their time has come to and end.

3) You will want to try them all
Sure you might have started out with pockets, but then you might start to wonder what it's like to cloth a newborn, what the fuss about folding flats is about or if all-in-ones are the easiest solution for your babysitter. Curiosity might start to get you and you'll want to test out all the different styles of cloth diapers.

4) Baby is going to poop in the new diaper
Did you add a new cute diaper to your stash and it's the first time on the bum? Then baby's going to poop in it 5min later.  It's like Murphy's Law.  That, or if you just put the diapers in the wash, baby will poop right after that too.

5) You will become a cloth diaper evangelist
If you put your baby in a cloth diaper, next thing you know, your entire camera roll will be pics of your baby in cloth. Then you won't be able to help yourself, you'll be telling everyone that your baby is in cloth and all about how great it is. There's a long-standing joke amongst cloth diapering mamas...'how do you know if a mom cloth diapers?'  Don't worry, she'll tell you 😎
