The Newborn Hack is a way to make 'one size' cloth diapers fit as small as possible when you are using them on a newborn with an umbilical cord stump still attached. It shortens the rise as much as possible and creates space to clear the cord for baby's comfort.
This hack works better on some brands than others and it may still not make the legs small enough to fit without gaps, but it's worth trying if you have a very small baby and you're eager to get those diapers on the bum.
If you really want to cloth diaper from birth with diapers that will be reliable and fit for sure, consider actual newborn sized diapers (rather than hacking a one size). Find a full selection of newborn diapers here.
